This a low cost clinic in Freeport on Route One right off Route 295 not too far from LL Bean. They spay and neuter both cats (ferals included) and dogs at very affordable prices. All male dogs $140 (call for female prices) except all pit bulls for $110. Special rates for small dogs in Knox County area. Cats $60 (except see special below), feral cats $45. Rabies vaccines included for all. Kitten and puppy surgeries performed as young as 2 months (if 2 lbs or bigger).
Cat special: $30 cat spay or neuter, including rabies vaccine for people living in Waterville, Clinton, Benton zipcodes at Community Spay-Neuter Clinic. Transport available. 865-0772. This clinic often has special pit bull prices.

Franklin County area, Somerset Humane Society and other areas. Maine Woods Mobile Vet: 491-5501. Low-income low cost spay/neuter clinics for cats and male dogs. Will do feral cat colonies and pediatric spay or neuter (8 weeks old). Individuals call for locations of clinics. Shelters and rescues call to schedule clinics. Will do clinics in the northern counties.
Southern and Central Maine: The Cleo Fund: 773-6221 Cats, dogs, guinea pigs, rabbits. Low-income and low cost spay/neuter. This is a volunteer so please call only during reasonable hours.
Southern Maine area : Animal Welfare Society low-income, low cost spay/neuter clinic for cats. Only $39.95 to spay or neuter a cat. Cats from anywhere are accepted. Call 985-3244 Ext. 120 and leave a message.
Southern Maine/Scarborough/Gorham area: Tender Touch Veterinary Hospital. 839-7456 Groovy Tuesday for cats: cat neuter: $55, cat spay: $95, this includes rabies and distemper vaccines. Precious Pits is their program to spay and neuter pit bulls and pit bull mixes: neuter $110, spay: $150, this includes rabies and distemper vaccines.
Fryeburg/Bridgton areas: Harvest Hills Animal Shelter 935-4358. Low-income only, cats only. Low cost or donation amount, please call for details. One spay/neuter clinic per month. This clinic is booked way in advance so please call before your cat goes in heat or starts spraying!
Hancock and Washington counties only: The Ark in Cherryfield "A Stitch in Time" program. Low-income spay/neuter assistance only. Telephone: 546-3484
Caribou area (see town list): Halfway Home Pet Rescue 492-1722 or norma@halfwayhomepetrescue.org If you are low income but your income is just over the income limit for Help Fix ME please call 492-1722. For cats and dogs. The program is primarily for the following towns: Caribou, Limestone, New Sweden, Stockholm, Presque Isle, Ft. Fairfield, Washburn, Woodland and the unorganized territories from Caribou north (including Cross Lake and Sinclair).
Ft. Kent area: PAWS call 543-7348, call between 8 AM and 8 PM, this is a volunteer! Cats only. You must be from one of these towns:

Portland area: Animal Refuge League 854-9771
They have a voucher program for cats and pit bulls. There are income requirements and you must live in one of these towns: Buxton, Cape Elizabeth, Chebeague Island, Gorham, Gray, Long Island, Portland, Pownal, Raymond, Scarborough, So. Portland, Standish, Westbrook or Windham.

Norway area: LOW COST FELINE NEUTER/SPAY CLINICS The first and third Wednesday of each month at 86 Roberts Rd in Norway. Responsible Pet Care and Well Point Veterinary Service sponsor spay/neuter clinics for cats for low income people. Male cats are $30. Female cats are $50.
